ONE-TREATMENT SUCCESS
YEARS COMBINED EXPERIENCE
ACCREDITED BUSINESS
At Affordable Bed Bug Exterminators, we use Aprehend®, a professional bed bug treatment manufactured by Rockwell Labs, as one of our primary treatment options for qualifying infestations.
Aprehend is different from conventional insecticides. Rather than relying on immediate contact kill, Aprehend creates strategically placed treated barriers that bed bugs cross as they move between hiding places and feeding areas.
According to Rockwell Labs, the manufacturer of Aprehend, the product usually requires only one application to provide long-term control and protection for an existing bed bug infestation. Aprehend’s residual treatment remains active for up to three months.
Aprehend is a professional biopesticide specifically developed for the control of bed bugs.
Its active ingredient is Beauveria bassiana, a naturally occurring fungus. Aprehend uses fungal spores in a proprietary formulation that is strategically applied to areas where bed bugs are likely to walk.
Aprehend is available for use by licensed pest-management professionals, making professional application an important part of the treatment process.

Aprehend works differently from a conventional insecticide that has to directly contact and immediately kill a bed bug. Aprehend doesn’t need to touch every bed bug directly. It needs one thing to happen — a bed bug crosses the treated area — and the rest follows from there.
Moving between a hiding place and a feeding area, it walks straight through a treated zone our technician placed strategically.
Fungal spores cling to the exoskeleton. No spray contact is needed — the transfer happens on crossing, not from being hit directly.
Back in hiding, the exposed bed bug can pass spores to others nearby — spreading the treatment through the population, not just one insect.
Spores germinate after contacting the bed bug. Rockwell Labs reports death occurs in approximately 4–10 days — not instantly, but reliably.

That is an important part of how the treatment is designed to work.
Aprehend does not need to kill every bed bug the moment it encounters the treatment.
Instead, the objective is for bed bugs to cross the treated barrier, pick up spores, return to hiding areas, and potentially transfer spores to other members of the population.
Rockwell describes this transfer process as an important part of Aprehend’s method of controlling an infestation.
A conventional treatment may depend on repeated applications to reach bed bugs that were missed or were still hidden when the initial treatment occurred. Aprehend is designed differently. Once applied, the treated areas remain active for an extended period.

What Does “One Treatment” Actually Mean?
One treatment does not mean that every bed bug necessarily dies on the day of service. Aprehend is designed to continue working after the technician completes the application. After treatment:
This process takes time.
Rockwell Labs reports that exposed bed bugs die within approximately four to ten days, while the treated residue can remain effective for up to three months.
Does One Treatment Always Eliminate Bed Bugs?
No treatment should be presented as a guarantee for every property or every infestation. Rockwell Labs states that Aprehend usually requires only one application, and our own treatment experience has shown a very high rate of one-treatment results.
However, the outcome can be affected by factors such as:
For these reasons, we evaluate each property individually.
If additional treatment is needed, we will clearly explain the reasons why. Then, we will recommend the most effective next steps for your property.
Our experience with Aprehend is one reason we offer this treatment approach. We believe it is important to make that distinction.

Rockwell Labs — Manufacturer
“Usually one”
The manufacturer states that Aprehend usually requires only one application for existing bed bug infestations.
This is our internal company data, not a claim made by Rockwell Labs and not an independently conducted clinical study. two separate pieces of information, and we provide both so customers can understand exactly what our one-treatment claim means.
Aprehend remains active on treated surfaces after the initial application. Rockwell Labs reports residual activity for up to three months.
Aprehend is designed so that bed bugs can be affected after crossing a treated surface rather than requiring the technician to spray the insect directly.
The active ingredient, Beauveria bassiana, works through fungal infection rather than the conventional chemical mode of action associated with many insecticides.
Rockwell's current product literature describes Aprehend as requiring minimal preparation compared with many conventional bed bug treatment approaches.
Aprehend is specifically marketed by Rockwell Labs for control of existing bed bug infestations.
Understanding the timeline is important because Aprehend is not designed to make every bed bug disappear immediately after application.

Up to 3 months
Rockwell Labs reports that Aprehend’s residual activity can remain effective for up to three months.

We chose Aprehend because it provides a fundamentally different approach to bed bug control. Instead of trying to find and directly kill every bed bug during the technician’s visit, Aprehend establishes strategically treated areas that bed bugs encounter as they move through the property.
That residual approach is particularly valuable with bed bugs because they spend much of their time hidden and can emerge after a technician has completed the initial service. Our goal is not simply to treat the bed bugs we can see. Our goal is to treat the infestation.
Aprehend and heat treatment work in very different ways. Neither method is automatically the right choice for every property. Our technicians evaluate the property and infestation before recommending the appropriate treatment strategy.

Rockwell Labs states that Aprehend usually requires only one application for an existing bed bug infestation. Our own five-year treatment records show that more than 90% of our customers have required only one treatment under our company’s treatment criteria.
Aprehend’s method is based on bed bugs encountering treated surfaces and becoming exposed to fungal spores. The treatment is designed to control the existing infestation over time rather than relying solely on direct contact with individual insects.
Rockwell Labs reports that exposed bed bugs die within approximately four to ten days. The treatment itself continues to provide residual activity for up to three months.
Your technician will provide specific preparation and re-entry instructions based on the treatment being performed and the product label. Always follow those instructions.
Rockwell Labs describes Aprehend as having no odor in its current product literature.
Seeing a bed bug after treatment does not necessarily mean the treatment has failed. Aprehend is designed to continue working after application, and exposed bed bugs can take several days to die.
However, if you continue seeing evidence of bed bug activity, contact us so we can evaluate the situation and determine whether additional action is appropriate.
Because Aprehend is designed as a residual treatment. Rockwell Labs states that it usually requires only one application for existing infestations and can remain active for up to three months. Automatically repeating the treatment when it isn’t necessary is not the same thing as following a treatment protocol.
